Apollo Apartments involved the conversion of a 1950's era office building into 42 one and two bedroom apartments with A3 units at street level.
The building was stripped back to the concrete frame and reclad to improve the insulation and air tightness values.
The apartments are all electric with the heating centrally controlled using a mains wiring control system.
Due to the location on Baldwin St, a busy artery from Bristol City centre, the high ambient noise level was a problem. A planning condition required the introduction of measures to deal with the high ambient noise levels. After acoustic testing and trials we utilised mechanical ventilation with heat recovery units to provide controlled background ventilation to the apartments without the need for openable windows which introduce noise.
