Pomphrey Hill Pavilion was the second phase of a project to provide sports changing and community facilities to playing fields to serve the new community of Emerson's Green.
The Pavilion was designed and constructed to provide changing and showering facilities for football and cricket pitches on the site. The pavilion is sited to give spectators excellent views of the cricket pitch.
The ground floor of the building provides changing and showering facilities for 6 Football teams and officials, first aid and pitch side snack bar with cooking facilities, and spectators WC's.
The first floor of the building has a rentable function / communal room with a licensed bar and kitchen, training gym for the local boxing club, WC's, showers and administrative space.
The changing area designs and constructions were designed to be robust and vandal resistant, to ensure that the areas remained in good condition. Underfloor heating was provided to the changing areas to avoid pipework corrosion problems with the wet atmosphere, and ensure that wet floors dry quickly. Occupancy activated lighting and ventilation controls were designed and installed to provide energy savings.
A solar thermal system was installed on the roof to provide energy savings for heating the hot water for the shower areas.
