Brodie Partnership were employed to design and project manage the installation of lighting to the Strode College MUGA (Multiple Use Games Area) Courts.
The brief was for a lighting scheme designed suitable for England Netball Category 4 "County" standard Netball, but also considering Tennis, and 5 a side football usage.
Due to the location at the extremity of the site, load measurements were taken of the existing site electrical infrastucture to confirm that the system was adequate to accept the large additional starting loads created by the high powered luminaires.
The system was designed to permit two levels of lighting for energy saving, a 70% level for training and general use, and a 100% level for County matches and for tennis.
Controls are provided within the changing pavilion, with timeclocks to automatically turn the lights off in accordance with planning conditions, and hours run meters to inform when lamp changes are due.
