Weston Lane was constructed on a brown field site and provides 1742m2 of Primary Care accommodation over 3 floors.
The new building has consulting rooms, treatment and minor ops rooms, community health facilities, admin offices, training rooms and a separate retail pharmacy.
During design, Computer Analysis of the sun paths identified that the North facing curved glass fascade would be in direct sunlight from mid afternoon in high summer. Understanding that this would give a problem with heat gains we worked with the architects to ensure that natural ventilation provision would ensure comfort temperatures. We installed motorised opening windows to the facade, where manual access was not possible, and Monovent Roof terminals ducted to the internal areas of the building. These provisions ensure that the building does not overheat during the summer.
